A morning on the Black Sea
The tea is poured before the engine starts. Hasan pushes off from a harbour of green slopes and painted boats, and the sea does the rest. Every fish that surfaces carries its own value, from the small silver shoal to the prize of the day. When the lighthouse cuts through the mist Hasan comes aboard, gathers whatever the water has offered, and a bigger boat waits at the end of the run.
